Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.yoll.net The Mazda Protege is a very reliable vehicle and would probably make a good first car. I still see a lot of protege's on the road and they haven't been in production in over 8 years. The bolts connecting the intake manifold to the cylinder head had 33 pound-feet of torque while the bolts connecting the thermostat housing to the intake manifold had 30 pound-feet of torque. Crankshaft Torque Specs The 0.344-inch bolts on the rod connecting the pistons to the crankshaft had 35 pound-feet of torque, the 0.375-inch bolts had 45 pound-feet of torque and the 0.438-inch bolts had 75 pound-feet of torque. The bolts connecting the flywheel to the crankshaft had 60 pound-feet of torque, the bolts connecting the pulley to the crankshaft had 30 pound-feet of torque and the bolts connecting the vibration damper to the crankshaft had 60 pound-feet of torque. The inner bolts connecting the crankshaft to the engine block had 25 pound-feet of torque in step one, 50 pound-feet of torque in step two and 75 pound-feet of torque in step three. The outer bolts had 65 pound-feet of torque. GM 5.0-Liter Engine Dimensions The GM 5.0-liter is a spark-ignition, four-stroke type engine with a naturally aspirated charge system. A Rochester four-barrel carburetor was used for fuel delivery. The engine had a displacement of 305.2 cubic inches, or 5.0 liters. It had eight cylinders and a compression ratio of 9.5 to 1. 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Performance The 1983 Monte Carlo SS had a peak horsepower of 175 hp at 4,800 rpm and a peak torque of 235 pound-feet at 3,200 rpm. BMW . How to Change the Exhaust Mainifold on a 2004 Ford F-150The exhaust manifold on a 2004 Ford F-150 is made of cast iron and designed to contain the heat and gas produced by the engine; it then directs that gas out to the exhaust of the truck. These manifolds can crack or warp from heat. If they do, then an exhaust leak develops. To fix that problem, change out the exhaust manifold. This should take under 30 minutes to do. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Tire iron Flat-head screwdriver 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket set Anti-seize compound Open-end wrench set Replacement exhaust manifold Replacement exhaust manifold gasket 3/8-inch torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Apply the parking brake on the Ford. Lift the front of the truck with the jack and put the jack stands under the frame. Unbolt the front wheels using a tire iron. Remove the plastic fender liner on the inside of the fenderwells using the flat-head screwdriver. 2 Unbolt the brake booster vacuum hose bracket from the manifolds using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Unbolt the EGR valve tube from the manifold with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Unbolt the manifold from the exhaust system with the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. 3 Unbolt the exhaust manifold from the engine with the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets, then pull the manifold and the exhaust manifold gasket off of the engine. 4 Put a thin coat of the anti-seize compound onto the exhaust manifold bolts. Install the replacement exhaust manifold and replacement exhaust manifold gaskets onto the engine block with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and the bolts. Torque the bolts down to 30 foot-pounds with the 3/8-inch torque wrench, tightening the bolts from the front of the engine to the back to ensure the manifold is evenly tightened. 5 Bolt the exhaust manifold to the exhaust with the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. Reinstall the EGR tube and brake booster bracket onto the manifold with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reinstall the fender liner by pushing in the push pins, then reinstall the front wheels with the tire iron. Lower the Ford off the stands with the jack. *the bridge, surveying the blue ocean with your binoculars, when suddenly you see an iceberg dead ahead. Instead of running down to the engine room and personally reversing the propellers so that the ship will move backward, you pick up the intercom and call the engine room, saying, "This is the cap tain speaking. Reverse engines!" The person in the engine room hears you and does what's necessary. The ship is saved. In a car, with a crew of one, you're still at the wheel giving orders. But you're giving them to a vehicle that can't hear you. You need a piece of machinery to communicate with other machines. In this case, that piece is your gearshift. By moving the gearshift with your hand, you can tell the transmission what to do. Then the transmission tells the wheels via the driveshaft. With the aid of the drive train, you can not only tell your wheels to go for ward or backward, but you can tell them how fast to go as well. When you step on the accelerator, you compel the engine to produce power, but that 404

There are ways to convey that extra power to the wheels by controlling how fast they turn in relation to the engine's speed when you're going up a hill, pulling a heavy load, or just trying to overcome inertia and get the car started. So your transmission has more than just forward and reverse gears; it has low and high gears, too. Some transmissions have as many as six forward gears to control power and speed efficiently. (I won't even talk about those huge semis with 14 and more forward gears!) In all cases, the lower gears provide more power at lower speeds. The higher gears provide less power but allow the vehicle to move at higher speeds because the wheels can BMW . What is the timing for a 1990 gm 5.7?

When you are not stepping on the clutch pedal, this disk is forced against the flywheel (see Step 4). A coating of friction material causes the two plates to adhere to each other, which forces them to turn at the same speed. 4. Next to the clutch disk is the clutch pressure plate. This mechanism forces the clutch disk against the flywheel or allows it to move away from the flywheel when it is time to change gears. Here's how it does that: • When you step on the clutch pedal to disengage the clutch and disconnect the engine from the transmission, a clutch release arm forces a throwout bearing into the pressure plate's release levers. As a result, the pressure on the clutch disk is released, and the disk can turn independently of the flywheel. 1 7Q Part II: What Makes It Go? • After you move the gearshift to the proper gear, you release the clutch pedal. This movement causes springs in the pressure plate to force the disk against the flywheel again, and both the disk and the flywheel resume spinning together at a new speed. BMW .
